Canton, MA Water Quality Report

Where Your Drinking Water Comes From

Canton draws its drinking water from two sources, our own local groundwater wells and the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA). The MA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) limits the amount of water the Town can use to 2.67 million gallons per day. Canton used an average of 2.27 million gallons per day in 2019, 45% supplied by MWRA, 55% from our seven groundwater wells. This report provides information about the water from MWRA only. For information about the water provided by Canton’s wells and treatment plant, please go to: www.town.canton.ma.us/261/Water-Sewer-Division.

How the MWRA Provides Safe Drinking Water

The Massachusetts Water Resource Authority maintains state-of-the-art treatment procedures and is committed to providing a reliable supply of water and to make sure your water is safe, fresh and tastes great. Redundant pipelines and tunnels allow inspection and maintenance of key facilities while ensuring uninterrupted service. The MWRA also continues to rehabilitate and replace pipelines throughout the distribution system to improve both reliability and water quality.
